Join us on a visit to Morrow Mountain State Park. This state park in located just outside Baden, NC but has an address of Albemarle, NC. It is located on the west side of the Yadkin River and the river changes names to the Pee-Dee River about midway of the park. The downriver section is also the upper end of Lake Tillery.
Morrow Mountain State Park has a lot to offer.
• Picnicking: There are several places with picnic tables.
• Trails: There are hiking and Bridle Trails.
• Camping: They have RV camping, Tent camping, Group Camping and primitive camping.
• Cabins: There are 6 cabins.
• Kron House: Dr. Francis Kron was the first medical doctor to settle in this area.
• History Museum: The history museum has a lot of artifacts and displays about the area.
• Water Sports: There are canoes and kayaks for rent and a boat ramp with a dock.
• Fishing: There are many places along the river to fish.
• Swimming: As of July 2021, the pool is closed for repairs but it is a very nice pool.
Due to it’s location away from any larger cities, Morrow Mountain State Park may be less crowded than some of the other parks. The Morrow Mountain State Park has over 3000 acres so there is plenty of space to spread out.
This park is very well maintained and we do recommend it!
