A visit to New River State Park in North Carolina is like a peaceful retreat. The New River State Park is a beautiful, secluded park. We camped there for a weekend in July and very much enjoyed our visit. The park offers tent and RV camping, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, tubing, fishing and peace and quiet. The camping area was extremely clean and well kept. Be aware of the orientation of your towable camper, you will want to request a back in site, otherwise your picnic table and fire ring will be on the wrong side of your camper. There are numerous canoe portages available close to the tent camping area which is located right on the New River. The tent area is an absolutely beautiful location, with ample areas for picnicking, river access and nice bathroom and shower facilities . This park is located within an easy drive to Jefferson, West Jefferson, North Wilkesboro and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
