Visiting the frescoes of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Glendale Springs NC we found a lovely quaint little church with wonderful frescoe paintings. These frescoes were painted by Ben Long. The same painter that painted the frescoes in St Mary Episcopal Church in West Jefferson. Mr Long is from Statesville, NC, but studied the frescoe technique of painting in Italy. The larger frescoe at Holy Trinity depicts the Last Supper. Mr. Long used locals as his models for the painting and the community came together offering home cooked meals to Mr. Long and 20 of his students as they worked on these wonderful paintings. The smaller fresco depicts Moses and the 10 commandments. These unique paintings are worth the trip. You will also find a very interesting Columbarium and beautiful carvings in the basement of The Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
