What to do in Tybee Island Georgia? This tiny island off the Georgia coast is a beautiful and fun destination. Tybee Island is a barrier island near Savannah, which makes it perfect for a day trip, but we wished we had more time to spend. Tybee Island offers wide, clean beaches with a pier and pavilion. The light station on Tybee Island is Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse, dating back to 1736. You can walk thru the renovated lightkeeper’s cottages. There is a museum to explore and an old fort. Shopping is a must!
